GAYAJI: The teacher-student relationship is an integral part of Indian tradition, and respect for teachers remains a lifelong responsibility, Bihar Governor Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd.) said on Monday while addressing the 5th Convocation Ceremony of the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) as the Chief Guest.

Recalling his enduring respect for his teachers, the Governor said that although he had completed his education more than 50 years ago, he still gave priority to messages received from his teachers on WhatsApp. Congratulating the graduating students and gold medal recipients, he emphasised that their achievements were also the result of the dedication and guidance of their teachers.

“This is a special and joyous day for all of you. Share this happiness with others, because both happiness and knowledge grow when shared,” he told the students.

Governor Praises CUSB’s Academic Excellence

Commending CUSB for securing the NAAC ‘A++’ accreditation grade, UGC Category-I status, and maintaining a clean and green campus, the Governor described the university’s students as exceptionally meritorious.

Highlighting the institution’s contribution to higher education in Bihar, he noted that since he assumed office as Governor, 80 students from CUSB had been appointed as Assistant Professors out of the 2,400 posts filled across 211 newly established degree colleges through the Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC), Patna.

The Governor appreciated the efforts of Vice-Chancellor Professor Kameshwar Nath Singh and the university’s faculty members. He also urged them to participate in public awareness initiatives, particularly the ‘TB-Free Division’ campaign.

Addressing the graduating students, he said that receiving a degree was not merely the conclusion of an academic journey but the beginning of a greater responsibility towards society and nation-building.

He emphasised that the energy, technical expertise and innovative thinking of young people would play a crucial role in establishing India as a guiding force on the global stage.

Social Responsibility and Constitutional Values Must Remain Paramount: Assembly Speaker

He stressed that responsible citizens must never compromise on social interests while pursuing professional success. He also called upon students to uphold non-violent protest, human dignity, constitutional rights and duties.

Emphasising the importance of mutual respect, Dr. Kumar said that while exercising their freedom of expression, students must also value the opinions and perspectives of others.

Youth Must Become Job Creators, Says Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi

Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Jitan Ram Manjhi said that the responsibility for preserving India’s culture, civilisation and vast body of knowledge rested on the shoulders of the younger generation.

Referring to his experience in the MSME sector, he observed that India’s youth were increasingly embracing entrepreneurship, innovation and self-reliance rather than aspiring solely to become job seekers.

He said this transformation reflected the vision of self-reliance associated with Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

He highlighted the university’s implementation of multidisciplinary education, skill development initiatives and the Academic Bank of Credits.
